A place in America that this has been particularly prevalent in is New Jersey. The Garden State has been making waves in the gambling community, and has been praised for being forward-thinking when it comes to the gaming world.

Atlantic City is a particularly great example of a gambling hub in New Jersey. Atlantic City is an iconic resort city in the state, and it’s home to a bustling gambling community. Whether you’re interested in heading to a casino or gaming online, there’ll be the perfect place for you to have fun in this city.

Casinos have had an interesting role in the development of Atlantic City, and they’re starting to reshape it once again. Today, we’re going to be taking an in-depth look at the history of Atlantic City and the world of gambling, and discussing how the newest casinos in this legendary gaming hub city impacting the economy as a whole.

Atlantic City’s history with gambling

Atlantic City’s history with gambling has not always been bright. As this Business Insider article notes, a few years back, Atlantic City was thought of as a ‘ghost town’. The popular casinos at the time had been struggling with money, which has a knock-on effect on how many people were employed and how much money New Jersey was making.

This was unfortunate, as many people viewed Atlantic City as a great place to spend their holidays and enjoy time on the beach and in casinos. It was also one of the only places that people could head to for online gambling and other pastimes that had not yet been legalized in other areas of the United States.

Thankfully, this has changed now.

Atlantic City is once again becoming a prosperous place with many intriguing options for both residents and tourists to enjoy. There’s a great number of ways to gamble and game, and other fun ways to spend time on holiday too, as described by TimeOut.

As we noted earlier, New Jersey is thought of as a gambling hub- and it’s easy to see why. There are so many unique gaming options throughout the state, and this is especially prevalent nowadays in Atlantic City. If you’re an avid gamer, this is somewhere that you need to visit.

The casinos that are changing the game in Atlantic City

There are a number of things that are bringing in new tourists to Atlantic City. There are great sources of entertainment, lovely beaches and interesting places to stay. However, as you may have guessed from this article’s theme, one of the main things that is changing Atlantic City for the better is the introduction of two new casinos.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

The first casino that’s worth mentioning is the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. This casino is part of a legendary franchise, that’s present in other gambling locations like Vegas. The Hard Rock name is associated with fast-paced entertainment and top quality gambling options.

As this handy review notes, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino was not always part of the Hard Rock franchise. In fact, it was associated with a certain United States president- and known as the Trump Taj Mahal. Somehow, the casino managed to go virtually bankrupt and was closed down in 2016- before being reopened in 2018 under its current name.

If you’re looking for somewhere fun and exciting to stay and gamble at, this casino will certainly be the perfect choice for you.

Ocean Casino Resort

The other casino that you need to know about in Atlantic City is Ocean Casino. This resort casino has been making waves in the community with its high class aesthetic, amazing dining and spa options and wide variety of world-class games and gambling options.

As with the other casino, Ocean Casino was opened under a different moniker- Revel. Revel was immensely expensive to open (roughly $2 billion dollars) and went bankrupt 2 years after opening. Ownership changed a few times, until it ended up in the hands of the team at Ocean Walk. It was opened in the summer of 2018.

This casino resort has a touch of class and elegance, and plenty of fun gambling options to enjoy. It’s definitely worth visiting, that’s for sure.

To sum up

Overall, it’s safe to say that the new casinos have been very beneficial for the economy in Atlantic City as a whole. They’ve bought in a plethora of new jobs and employment opportunities, and have been great from the perspective of tax revenue as well. They benefit the state and the local people- what about this movement isn’t to love?

Another knock-on effect of the gambling world being present in a legal, moderated fashion is that it encourages technological development, as we noted. The rise of the new casinos in Atlantic City show that the gambling world is modern, and willing to adapt alongside demands for modern changes in gaming and software.

After all, gambling is always going to happen. It’s much better to have this in a legal, regulated environment where it can be monitored and watched, rather than in an unsafe, illegal environment where vulnerable people and gamers run the risk of being scammed of their money or tricked into losing repeatedly.

We’re sure that Atlantic City will have even more to offer in the way of gaming in the coming year, and we can’t wait to see where 2020 takes this legendary city. It’ll be exciting to see how many other states follow suit and begin to accept gambling into their own cities- according to this Fox Business article, California appears to be the next in line to fully embrace gambling.
