Some slot review assignments are approached with greater enthusiasm than others (I think I might have mentioned that before). And whilst being invited to spend “An Evening with Holly Madison” is clearly going to be a non physical experience, this one will fall into the more enthusiastic category.
A cursory glance at the press release from NextGen Gaming, the Australian Slots studio who have signed the rights to produce games in Hugh Hefner’s ex’s name, provides wonderful double entendre opportunities. Apparently, the former head Playmate from the Playboy Mansion’s signature slot game features “Holly’s expanding wilds [that] will enchant players”. And whilst any press release by nature is laced with a certain degree of license in the overstatement department, we can’t help feeling NextGen pushed the envelope slightly by describing Madison as a “A much-loved actress, TV personality and respected producer”! Anyway, enough of this what of this game?
Gameplay
Let’s get the spoiler out of the way straight up. If you were looking at the slot as some kind of R rated gaming experience, you are going to be disappointed. The closest you will get to titillation is some loose innuendo from our protagonist, who appears occasionally (fully clothed). That out the way, the salient facts are that this is a 5 reel 25 payline affair with symbols on the reels including playing cards, dice, a convertible car, pink top hat, masquerade mask, blue shoes, and the regular icons of a heart, spade, club, and diamond.
Wild and Scatters
The image of Holly blowing you a kiss is your Wild and she can appear on reels 2, 3, and 4. As per usual they will substitute for all other symbols, except for the Scatters, to complete any potential winning combinations.
Holly’s expanding wilds are her tits. Actually they’re not. Just trying to liven things up around here. In fact they are represented by Holly appearing in all her augmented glory to cover the reel and trigger a win. Holly will blow you a kiss to tell you how pleased she is for you.
The scatters are represented by the HOLLY lollipop and are your route into the FREE SPINS bonus round. Land 3 or more and you will be awarded with 10 free spins. During the free spins you must collect kisses. After the free spins are completed then you will enter the Photoshoot Bonus where every win you achieve is multiplied by the number of kisses you collected during the free spins. It is also possible to re-trigger the free spins.
Bonus Rockin Respin
This is a nice touch and offers up something a little different in a scenario where you land 2 scatters and thus feel you just missed out on the pay day of 10 free spins. In An Evening with Holly Madison, landing two Scatters across the reels will trigger a Rockin’ Re-Spin where the reels with the two Scatters will remain in place for an extra spin, with the remaining reels spinning one more time.
Summary
We are not sure that the degree to which An Evening with Holly Madison slot quite lives up to the tease. We are a fan of NextGen games and there is nothing wrong with this one in so far as it goes but we are not blown away. And yes, I will leave that particular double entendre where it is.

The new features and great graphics combine nicely. Holly Madison appeared in person at the 2014 G2E event in Las Vegas, where NYX Gaming Group exhibited.
