NYX Acquires OpenBet and Offloads Ongame

NYX Gaming Group Limited, (“NYX” or the “Company”), are pleased to announce that they have acquired global sportsbook and digital gaming supplier, OB Topco Limited (“OpenBet”) for £270 Million. William Hill and Sky Betting will support the acquisition by partially funding £100 Million through a preferred equity investment.

OpenBet powers the world’s largest share of online betting transactions and in 2014, took over one billion in sports bets! OpenBet announced to the media on Monday that, “NYX Gaming Group Limited and privately held OB Topco Limited (“OpenBet”), the #1 regulated digital gaming supplier globally, announced today they have entered into a binding share purchase agreement pursuant to which NYX will acquire 100% of the issued and outstanding shares of OpenBet from funds managed by Vitruvian Partners LLP, its co-investors and management.”

Under the 10 year commercial agreement, OpenBet will focus on the development of William Hill’s existing sports betting, gaming and retail platforms, as well as the development of an additional platform over the next three years.

William Hill chief executive, James Henderson, commented on the deal stating “Our new commercial agreement is a key step in delivering our technology strategy by enhancing our current platforms and, in parallel, developing a new back-end platform for William Hill to complement and support our Trafalgar platform, which is focused on our front-end user experience.”

Matt Davey, chief executive of NYX states the acquisition of OpenBet “completes the core portfolio of industry-leading products and services we offer to our customers.”

“They are two highly complementary businesses with key strengths in regulated markets, technology services and gaming content.

“To have a consortium of operators with the pedigree of William Hill and Skybet and the public support of Paddy Power Betfair highlights the strength of NYX’s proposition and I look forward to extending our relationship with them.”

Meanwhile, NYX have announced that they will sell Ongame, the poker network it acquired from Amaya Inc. in 2014, to focus on the acquisition of OpenBet.
