IGT (International Game Technology) has given land-based and online casino players around the world the chance to “spin the wheel” with its Wheel of Fortune Double Diamond slot game.
Wheel of Fortune Slot on All Platforms
The slot game was launched on the social casino application DoubleDown Casino in September 2014. The slot game is based on the highly popular U.S. TV game show that debuted in 1983. IGT and SONY Terms of Agreement
In March 2014, IGT (NYSE:IGT) signed a multi-year agreement with SONY Pictures Consumer Products to design, develop and deliver a Wheel of Fortune slot game, the all-time most popular slot machine theme, to players across the globe. IGT’s agreement with SONY included the development of mobile and online versions of Wheel of Fortune for its DoubleDown Casino. SONY agreed to license not only Wheel of Fortune but Jeopardy game show brands for use as themes in cross-platform products. In connection, IGT has paid SONY Pictures USD 185 million as advance royalties. The agreement between SONY and IGT runs until 2024.
Will Daugherty, senior vice president and general manager of DoubleDown Interactive, is confident that DoubleDown Casino will be able to offer desktop and mobile players a real Wheel of Fortune slot machine experience anywhere, anytime. According to Daugherty, the Wheel of Fortune Double Diamond slot game features the standard three-reel configuration with Multiplier and Wild symbols.

IGT’s first venture into the development of Wheel of Fortune brand slot games was in 1996 when it came out with the wide area progressive (WAP) slot. Since then, over 200 Wheel of Fortune slot machine themes were introduced to gamers all over the world. Among the latest releases are Wild Gems, Triple Cash and Lucky 7s. The slot game has delivered over USD 3 billion in jackpots, creating a thousand or so millionaires. To date, the highest jackpot prize won is a staggering USD 39 million.
