Playtech, one of the leading online gaming companies, is set on the acquisition of Aristocrat Lotteries which is owned by international content and system provider Aristocrat Leisure. The agreed upon acquisition deal is around €10.5m in cash, which is still subject to closing agreement and adjustments.
The deal is very much in favor of Playtech’s land-based operations. Once the acquisition phase is complete, all land-based operations of Playtech will become one of the top suppliers of VLT (video lottery terminal) systems not only in Europe, but in Latin America as well. Playtech’s land-based sector proved to be successful in the United Kingdom with its Videobet solution. The acquisition is hoped to be profitable in existing and new jurisdictions. The deal is also anticipated to increase market share in the VLT division.
Playtech’s Retail Strategy
Shay Segev, Playtech’s COO and Head of Retail expressed that the company is more than glad in its acquisition of Aristocrat Lotteries as it is part of Playtech’s ongoing retail strategy. He further said that Playtech’s multi-channel solution ensures that gaming content can be brought to any location and sent through any type of device on top of letting their operators offer digital channels to their customers.
Segev comments that the deal is beneficial as it will strengthen their position to retail operators in vital regulated markets. It will also create new opportunities to expand to existing and new territories. Segey reiterates that the Aristocrat Lotteries is excellently managed by a first-class team, and backed by highly-skilled developers. Aristocrat Lotteries
Based in Stockholm, Aristocrat Lotteries is the exclusive gaming provider for Norks Tipping’s VLT (Norway lottery). It also supplies its TruServ™ platform to a major Italian operator. To date, Aristocrat Lotteries has successfully completed another pilot project in a regulated country in Europe. If this new project is commercialized, more income for the company is expected.
